Digital object identifier (DOI) is a unique web address that is assigned to digital documents, so they are always easy to find.
Unlike regular web addresses (URLs), which can be changed or deleted, the DOI is a permanent address that is always associated with the document. The DOI is typically found on the first page of digital articles, or on the database landing page for the article. Books, articles and datasets can all have a DOI.
Example:
10.1080/09596410500400165
When referring to a DOI, always include https://doi.org/ in front of the DOI number.
The DOI number is usually placed at the end of the reference:
Example:
Peter, F. (2006). Individualization and religious authority in Western European Islam. Islam and Christian–Muslim Relations, 17(1), 105–118. https://doi.org/10.1080/09596410500400165
Note: Avoid adding a / (forward slash) after the DOI number. If this is included, it will often result in “Error: DOI Not Found”.
Note: APA 7th recommends using active links in your document. To do this, add a space or press Enter after adding the link.
Only add the DOI number in the field DOI, e.g. 10.1016/j.ccep.2018.11.002. Endnote will automatically add https://doi.org/ in front of the number.
Only add the DOI number in the field DOI, e.g. 10.1016/j.ccep.2018.11.002. Zotero will automatically add https://doi.org/ in front of the number.
