Translated works

In-text citations

For translated works, you must include the year of both the original and the translated edition in the reference, separated by a slash.

Example: (Freud 1930/1966, p. 77)

In the reference list

In the bibliography, the translator’s name should be placed in brackets after the title. In a parentheses at the end, you put “Originally published” and the year.

Freud, S. (1966). Ubehaget i kulturen (P. Larsen, Transl.). Cappelen. (Originally published 1930)

EndNote

Enter name of translator in field “Translator”.

To include both years in the citation, you must edit the text manually.

Original publication year is added in field “Original Publication”. Here you need to include the whole text to be displayed in the parenthesis, e.g. “Original work published 1930”.
