If the source has no author, but the institution is responsible for the text, the institution should be listed as the author. The same applies to an organization or a ministry.
Example 1:
(University of Agder, 2024)
Example 2:
(World Health Organization, 2022)
To use an abbreviation of the organization’s name, you should insert the full name and introduce the abbreviation the first time you cite the source.
Example:
Parenthetical citation: (University of Agder [UiA], 2024)
Narrative citation: University of Agder (UiA, 2024)
After that, you can use the abbreviation instead of the full name.
Example 1:
(UiA, 2023)
Example 2:
(WHO, 2022)
Note:
To avoid confusion, don’t use an abbreviation if there are two organization names in the text that use the same abbreviation.
Enter the full name in the reference list.
Example 1:
University of Agder (2024, March 25). International Networks. https://www.uia.no/english/collaborate-with-uia/international-networks.html
Example 2:
World Health Organization. (2022, June 8). Mental Disorders. https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/mental-disorders
If you refer to a subdivision within an organization, you can separate division and subdivision by commas.
Example:
Nord University, Faculty of Education and Arts, Centre for Saami and Indigenous Studies.
Note:
Omit publisher when author and publisher (or site name) are the same.
Enter the full name of the organization in the author field, followed by a comma. Do not use abbreviations, even if the organization is commonly known by an abbreviated name.
